WHAT CAN YOU DEHYDRATE? – a quick guide!

Many foods can be dehydrated. But what can you dehydrate? One could say that almost ALL food can be dried, except for really fatty ingredients (fat can not be dehydrated, only by freeze drying).

Some popular options for dehydrating

Fruits  Apples, bananas, strawberries, mangoes, and berries are commonly dehydrated.
Vegetables  Carrots, bell peppers, tomatoes, kale, zucchini, and onions can be dehydrated.
Herbs  Herbs like basil, thyme, rosemary, and parsley can be dehydrated for long-term storage.
Meat  Beef, chicken, and turkey can be dried to make jerky.
Dairy  Cheese can be dehydrated to create cheese crisps or powder.
Grains  Rice, quinoa, and pasta can be dehydrated for quick cooking if you bring food for a hike.
